Okay, so something damaged the repository on a file-base. This can be broken
software or broken hardware, I'd watch out.

Wait: How did you restore? From a backup? If so, at least the problems with MS
Windows being unable to read the file should go away. If you then try to
check out again, you should at least get a different error message from
Subversion. If not, I'd guess that even the backup is damaged already, so
you'll have to find one that works.

I don't understand this statement. Do you mean you can update your working
copy without any issues?
