My counter argument is that revert --force would break my mental model
of what Subversion does. My view of Subversion is that it is in charge
of managing files I have explicitly told it about. If a file is not
versioned, Subversion shouldn't mess with it. I see that as the job of
the user, or the build (or in your case the merge) script.
