crash on update

From: EXT-Michel, Justin D <Justin.D.Michel_at_boeing.com>

This may be a known issue, but I received the following crash dialog
when doing an update from the root of a branch. Our server is 1.4.x,
and the client is the one that comes with Tortoise 1.6.2.

Several pages worth of updates (~400KiB) had already completed, and
restarting the update allowed it to fetch the rest without error.
