svnadmin: Unrecognized record type in stream

I'm loading some old repository dumps and I get the following error:

svnadmin: Unrecognized record type in stream

The dumps were created with "svnadmin dump" a while back. I used them
in preference to storing copies of the repository because I thought
the dump files were supposed to be safer. I'm running SVN 1.5.5 and
the dump files look to be from around 2005 or so. Only two failed,
most are fine.
