I see. When you run the "server" installer. Just unclick the Apache
component. Then on the next screen on the install wizard unclick
"Install svnserver to run as Windows service".
You will get a 7MB install on your machine... no servers will be
running... but you will have the svn.exe CLI program and all the server
side admin stuff.
I think this is what you want.

Bob,
Thanks a lot for following up on this; the first thing the installer
does is to ask you about setting up apache and/or SVNSERVE.
I'll have to find some time and play with the different installers, vs.
the tigris.org installer, to see how I can move forward (I'd rather test
it on VMs before I risk my "producion" SVN install).
Best
Javier

I looked and compared my client install to my server install. The only
difference is that the server install includes...
Libdb41.dll, libhttpd.dll, openssl.exe, sasldblistusers2.exe,
saslpassword2.exe, saslsasldb.dll, svnadmin, svndumpfilter.exe,
svnlook.exe, svn-populate-node-origins-index.exe, svnserve.exe,
svnsync.exe
So, it has server side "components" I assume bound to apace libs.
However, it does NOT install apache. Nor does it set up a server (I
think this is an option on the installer though).
Hth,

Hi, Bob.
I was aware of that; but although I use TSVN most of the time, every now
and then I use the svn command line client (for instance, importing
separate/single files into a repo is much simpler with svn than with
TSVN)
Thanks anyhow for the tips; I'll look into it more slowly

Actually, if you are using TSVN to access a local repo using the file://
protocol you do NOT even need svn installed.

Hi, Bob.
I saw the link to the CollabNet downloads, but (AFAIK), they've been
providing SVN releases for a while, and at the same time we've had the
tigris.org releases. I'm pretty sure that at least on the 1.5.1 - 1.5.3
time frame, there have been releases of both.
My main peeve with the collab.net binaries, and the reason I'd rather
keep using the tigris ones, is that the full collab.net install sets up
a SVN server in the machine; I'm using subversion LOCALLY, via
TortoiseSVN using file:// URLS to access a local repo, so I'd rather not
add a new network server that I have to take care of.. But OTOH, I like
the fact that the Tigris.org installer includes the "server" parts, so I
can start SVNSERVE if needed (not too often, but happens, for example,
to sync repos via SVK)
That's why I was asking. ATM I'm running 1.5.3, but I like to keep
current, and TortoiseSVN keeps telling me that I can update to a newer
version.
Thanks a lot
Javier

The windows binaries are now (since 1.5 I think) maintained by
collabnet. You can download them from
http://www.collab.net/downloads/subversion/

Subject: Tigris.org binaries for Subversion 1.5.5?
Hi all!
Sorry if this question has already come up and being answered, but I've
been using the Tigris.org subversion binary packages for Windows
since... Well, ever, and I was wondering if there are any plans to
release installers for Subversion 1.5.4/1.5.5 for Windows? (I guess
that, according to the latest naming schema, that'd be
Setup-Subversion-1.5.5.msi).
In the download page at
http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=91
<http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=91>
, I see that there are recent .zip packages with the binaries
themselves, but not any installer..
IF there are not plans to release an installer, would "unzipping" the
1.5.5 binaries in "C:\Program Files\Subversion" result in an upgraded
setup, or is it a bit more difficult than that?
In any case, thanks a lot for the time and effort invested in
maintaining these installers, and in the Subversion project in general.
Thanks a lot
Javier
