Bug? svn co / svn update problem or large repository

Can anybody advise me on the solution to the following problem.

Client: 1.5.1 (r32289) CollabNet (Windows XP)
Server: 1.5.1 (r32289) CollabNet (Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 4))
Problem: Running "svn co" or "svn up" indicates success, but hasn't completed.
Behaviour observed:

I ran "svn co" to get a new wc. It completed, saying I was at revision 116. However, I noticed some files were missing from the wc. I ran "svn st" which indicated no changes. Having double-checked that the files really were in the repository, I ran "svn up" again. A large number (several thousand) more files were added to my wc, before it completed with the message "At revision 116.". However, still not all the files were there. It took another 3 attempts, each reporting "At revision 116." with no warning or error message before I had a complete wc.

Needing to run "svn up" several times is a bit of an issue. But the thing I'm really concerned about is the lack of any error/warning message about the incomplete update.

Behaviour expected:

Ideally, all 160K files should have been checked out in one go. However, if it failed for some reason, I would have expected an error message.

Is this a known issue? If so, is a fix available? If not (and this is considered a bug), what extra information can I collect that might assist in debugging?

Thanks,

Andrew
