RE: Apache installation

I understand that the TortioseSVN is the best GUI tool to manage SVN
from the client side.

The thing is that I need to manage the server side also, and the server
is remote.

I can use the remote access program to run the server admin, but if I
can install it locally and connect it to the remote server it would be
even better.

Second is I have production old server version.

I want to move all data to a new machine + new SVN (from the VisualSVN).
Where can I find a procedure to do that?

You will need to run the install on the computer. It uses an MMC snap-in
to mange it.. so I guess you could use a remote management console. Your
best bet is to install it and give it a try... maybe on a VM or
something.

As far as a GUI front end to subversion itself... once again TortioseSVN
is your best bet there.

3. No, the tool manage what LDAP groups have permission to what.
You use LDAP to manage users passwords.
4. Some... this is just server side installer/config. You use any
svn client that you prefer just as if you had manually installed Apache
and Subversion and edited config files yourself. However, there is a
UI/repo browser and you can add/delete folders. But, I prefer just using
TortoiseSVN for that stuff.

I guess that I would want to try it (when I have a test server for SVN)

1) Is this a freeware?

2) Does this also manage the user access rights?

3) I read that I can use LDAP (active directory) to manage passwords for
users. Does this tool manage passwords?

4) Last but not least, does this tool manage tags, creation of branches
etc (does this tool is for CM)?

You might want to try http://www.visualsvn.com/server/ which gives you a
bundled svn/Apace installer and visual configuration which takes most of
the grunt work out of setting up this scenario.

Hi all.

Currently in my company we have SVN server installed on windows machine.

It is a Windows server without APACHE installed.

From what I understood it is much easier to Admin the server with access
rights etc using the Apache server installed.

1) Is it true?

2) If I have the server running and I want to install this Apache,
what is the procedure? Will it affect the developers?

3) If I am using the Apache server will it make my SVN server to
work faster\slower\no affect?

4) Where can I find best practices data about managing SVN server?
