Is there some way to reset/disable mergeinfo

I have been using SVN 1.5.1 since it was released (Now upgraded to 1.5.4),
and it seems that mergeinfo requires some more attention before using it for
live projects.

Is is possible to reset the mergeinfo-property of a project and then set an
option on the respository to disable mergeinfo ? Like stripping the
mergeinfo from the commit ?
