I also agree completely with your very detailed remarks.

Reply-To munging is not generally wrong, and especially for this list,
I'm sure that "munging" would be better because now many valuable
replies are lost for the community simply because people don't
remember that they have to add the list address to the recipient list
(I usually forgot it). And in _this_ list, there is little risk of
sending annoying personal replies accidentally to the list.

BTW: My solution is to use gmane to read tis list.
