As Andy said, any Subversion 1.x client can talk to any Subversion
1.x server. However, you should update to a newer version of
Subversion. 1.1.x is not supported anymore, and many bugs have been
fixed since then. The current version is 1.5.1.

Downloads are at http://subversion.tigris.org of course.

You should also use the latest version of the Apache Portable
Runtime. Subversion is however compatible with APR 0.9.x or 1.x.
