Checksum mismatch - how could this happen?

Hi there,

we ran into a strange problem today. Suddenly, when trying an svn
update, we got these message for one file:

svn: Prüfsummenfehler für
'lib/modules/file.inc.php'; erwartet:
'5c787392125e3a392f109e67ea29cce0', tatsächlich:

(checksum error for ...; expected:)

it's more than strange, and I can't comprehend what possibly went
wrong. Is this a problem with our server-side repository?

We have about 8 *identical* workspace checkouts of the project, which
are continuously updated with svn update. Suddenly, after a small
change commited to
file.inc.php (nothing spectacular), ALL workspaces show this error.
They are all at the latest version before the last update, i.e. 1234,
while the current state of svn ist 1235.

What could have caused this? I was able to fix it in one system by
"simply" deleting the complete subdirectory modules/ and doing a
fresh update of the complete directory, but nonetheless I'd like to
know what could have happened here to produce this error in the first

Would it have been one single workspace, I'd have considered some
corruption at the client side, but now I'm a bit afraid that
something with our server repository might be "wrong".

Any suggestions?

Repository file system is fsfs, and I just tried a complete svnadmin
dump, which gave no errors (*phew*).

with best regards & thanks in advance,
