Upgrading local install from source

From: Johannes Graumann <johannes_graumann_at_web.de>

Hi all,

I'm running svn self-compiled and locally in my server share. So far it's
        svn, version 1.4.4
but I'd like to upgrade to 1.4.6. Being a novice regarding installs from
source I wonder whether 'make install' after compiling 1.4.6 will do the
upgrade properly or whether I have to uninstall 1.4.4 first.

Thanks for your patience,

Joh
