That's not totally true, is it? I agree that for the purpose of the OP
(the email has been cut) it's not of much help...

However, as a general question, yes you can. We do change files in the
post-commit script. We used an "admin" working copy where we make our
modifications and then commit. It works perfectly well.

As I said, the OP wanted, if I remember well, a method to modify the
file without committing, which is not possible.
