Well, I guess one good reason would be that SubVersion comes readily compiled
for quite a lot of distributions, even with Apache support. So not only would
you NOT need to compile anything yourself, you might even get support from
the distribution (I'm thinking about the enterprise editions of SuSE or
RedHat... but then I don't know whether they include SubVersion).
