Can you do a telnet or ssh session to the server? Leave it running for
a while and see if it hangs too. If so, the problem is in the network
connection and has nothing to do with Subversion.

I see this on my current home network and a previous DSL connection
I had. Normally a ssh session will last several days, but every so
often the DSL router gets in a funk and sessions will last only minutes
or seconds before dying. Strangely, when they die, the terminal just
hangs, you can't do anything for a while (probably longer than an hour).

Rebooting the router usually resets it to a good state.

Check the temperature where the router is, make sure it is cool enough.
