I totally agree also. We've just transitioned cvs->svn and a lot of
people are grousing about this lost functionality (sparse checkouts is
the other big loss).

I'm curious what other groups have done wrt this loss of
functionality. My ideas thus far are kludgy at best: e.g. define an
env variable with "branches of interest", and provide a script that
will provide a log aggregating history across the "branches of
interest". Ugh.

Other workarounds?
