Could you enlighten me as to what the "sparse directory" feature is?

+1 for subversion 1.5 earlier w/o merge tracking

The two features that would get used by me immediately are the sparse
directory support and DAV mirroring. These will make upgrading worth
it.

I am also anxiously waiting for merge tracking, but would really
appreciate using these other new features in the mean time.
