Can't open '.svn\tmp\tempfile.tmp': The system cannot find the file specified.

Running a "Windows XP" client against a "Windows 2003 Server" Server,
both 1.4.2, I see the following error on two machines:

Running on w:, which is a linux server serving files over samba

W:\mediator>svn merge -r 8:40 http://svn/svn/java/mediator/trunk

Skipped missing target: 'upgrade.zip' ... ( and two other missed
targets)

svn: Could not save file

svn: Can't open '.svn\tmp\tempfile.tmp': The system cannot find the file
specified.

W:\mediator>dir .svn\tmp

...

 Directory of W:\mediator\.svn\tmp

02/01/2007 15:49 <DIR> prop-base

02/01/2007 15:48 <DIR> props

               0 File(s) 0 bytes

Running on C:, the local hard drive, it works fine.

I was slightly weary to report this in case this is a problem with our
samba, but nothing else has thrown errors and I'm just stumped

The only things I've managed to find about it that could be related

are

Anyone have any pointers?

Thanks,

James
