It might be worth backing off of Subversion, and just attacking VSS.
There are some good alternatives to Subversion out there, but VSS is not
one of them. An "anything but VSS" attitude may pay you better dividends
than trying to defend SVN. Perhaps after VSS is tossed and alternatives
are being discusssed, SVN can be brought up. But even if you end up
having to go with something like Perforce instead, you will still be
*waaaaaaay* ahead for not having to use VSS. That alone would be an
accomplishment you can be happy with.
