svnserve hangs all the time

From time to time svnserve just hangs there and does nothing...

It does not matter what client or protocol I use (normally I use svn://
from either Linux or Windows clients, sometimes I use file:// from the
server itself to test) and from time to time it just hangs there... and
does nothing... It don't matter what service I request, list, import,
commit, checkout whatever...

I followed the setup from the book and have used fsfs filesystem...
Because the server runs on a virtual server instance with a network
mounted directory (Blade server setup with VMWare)... Could it be a
problem with the server running on VMWare?? Or is it some other
problem??
