You might want to double-check your NDA. Most of the ones I've dealt with have explicit clauses stating that it's null and void if the information legitimately becomes public knowledge (i.e., the company opens the specification or discloses it to the public). I believe even Microsoft's standard NDA has that clause, but I haven't looked at mine recently.
