No, SlickEdit does not act like a proper client. In order to perform any function against the repository, you must have Subversion installed on the same machine you're running SlickEdit from. SlickEdit will, however, perform some operations without the client (status, in particular). But that support is likely to break in the next release because they made the mistake of parsing the entries file (I have told them of this change though).
