Absolutely Purge a File from Repository?

A developer made a big boo-boo and put a confidential file into the
repository by accident. I'm hoping there is an admin-only way to remove the
file from the back-end (fsfs)... Is there? I'm sure this won't be the last
time it happens, so any kind of repeatable process would be appreciated.
