Performance Issues With Apache + SVN

Hi

I recently implemented apache + svn in my department. The repository is huge
averaging 70 to 80 thousand files and approximately 100 to 150 commits
daily. We strictly follow the access restrictions on the folders because
many teams work on the same repository so I have switched SVNPathAuthz to
ON, I am using subversion1.3.1 the latest one from SVN. How good if I switch
the configuration from apache+svn to svnserve because I see path based
checks can be attained from the svnserve as well in the latest version of
subversion. Does switching to svnserver really boost my server performance?
Please suggest.

Regards,
Raju N,
