Version control for databases

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction (links,
books, etc..) as far managing databases with my Subversion-controlled
projects.

One way I can think of is to dump the contents of the database into a
SQL script, and put that under version control. Of course, that
doesn't seem like the most elegant solution.

How do you guys do it? Do you have any links, or book references?
