svn: Unable to open an ra_local session to URL

Hi All,

I set up a repository @ /usr/local/diabro and imported from
/usr/local/oscj the files I wanted version controlled but, when I tried
to checkout, I got the following,

[coolprogrammer_at_6 oscjlive]$ svn checkout file:///usr/local/oscj
svn: Unable to open an ra_local session to URL
svn: Unable to open repository 'file:///usr/local/oscj'

I then tried with sudo, although, I'm imagining that's not the issue at all.

[coolprogrammer_at_6 oscjlive]$ sudo svn checkout file:///usr/local/oscj
Password:
svn: Unable to open an ra_local session to URL
svn: Unable to open repository 'file:///usr/local/oscj'

What have I not done correctly? I'm following this tutorial,

http://artis.imag.fr/~Xavier.Decoret/resources/svn/index.html

and installed svn via yum and dag wieer's repos.
