Ok, thanks, browsing through the discussion it seems that there's more to
it than just my non-familiarity with svn... :-)

At least by the discussion, I know now better why I'm missing the
``release'' thing: it's indeed a ``partial checkout'': not-so-sophisticated
users should have an not-so-sophisticated way of having only parts of the
repos, and especially _without_ messing with the server-side layout of the
whole structure. Restructuring the directory structure at the server is as
such of course welcome, but should for the not-so-experienced not he the
daily routine.

However, reading through the discussions and hearing things like ``this
functionality is currently rather broken'', I currently will better not
plan for non-recursive checkouts on a real project to find out mid-way that
it almost worked in many cases but right before the deadline it broke :-)
