And next day I want to know at which revision the tag was produced (sorry,
copied), and what was the state of branch-X.Y.Z at this revision.

Yes, I can do this -- for the copied /repo/tags/tag-1.2.3 directory is nothing
else than a weird way to mark a specific revision (the one at which tag-1.2.3
was created). Just its inconvenient. Labels would make it much easier.

The matter of "improvement" are a matters of taste. I do not subscribe to your
statement.

It seems that there are several "schools of thought" about how repo and
versioning can (should?) be organized. Some prefer "cheap copies", others
would like to see more straightforward way to label revisions.

Have you noticed that instead of answering my argument you just change a
topic? :/

To the point, I think that a system should not force users to adapt to its
deficiencies; a system should do what users need it to do, and not force
people to do thinks in "one right way".
