There are some administrative advantages to subversion as well...
1) Use apache + https, makes quick encrypted access to our repositories.
2) Add LDAP with apache, and we have instant users + permissions, no
need to maintain separate user accounts
3) able to browse the repository from web page, and even download the
latest version
4) since it's just plain web pages (HTTP or HTTPS), no special ports
need to be opened
These might appeal to your system administrator(s).
