Hooking Lucene to provide full-text search

While I am aware that using a post-commit hook to have Lucene add the newly
commited file content to its index for fast and flexible searching is
generally possible, I would like to know whether anyone has a working script
for that already.

I have seen a Phython script on the web that does does that as a command
line tool (and is for proof of concept only), but no fully functional hook
script yet.

Anyone has that and is willing to share this?
