SVNServe on Mac OSX, repository on Samba share

Hi all,

I've been reading the list for quite a while, but first time posting.
Big fan of subversion, our team are using it at work now and
everyone's happy we switched from VSS.

Is anyone running svnserve (1.2.3 I believe we're trying) under OSX,
serving a FSFS repository from a samba share on a linux box? I've
been trying to set this up on a dual-G5 PowerMac we have in the
office (OSX 10.4.3) and simply get errors (from svnserve) regarding
file locks as soon as it tries to perform any action. A bit of
googling turned up a few hits regarding file lock problems under OSX
with samba shares, with suggestions of editing the samba config to
disable locking and/or posix locking. Neither seemed to make any
difference.

Just wondered if anyone on the list knew for definite if this is just
not worth sticking with. It does seem that OSX has a couple of known
issues with locks on samba shares, so I'm prepared to accept that I
may have to look for another solution. Currently we're running the
same version of svnserve on a Windows 2000 box (serving the same
repository from that samba share) but I'd quite like to take some of
the strain off it and use the G5 which is currently idle.

Apologies if this has been previously discussed on the list, I didn't
spot any posts with this same problem when I searched the list archives.

Regards,
Ashley Hogg
