lockup

I have just upgraded the reportlab server to freeBSD 6.0 and with that
to svn version 1.2.1 (r15230). The repository is BSDB and accessed only
through apache https and we have had no lockups for about a year until
my colleague reported one today.

One of the changes caused by the OS upgrade was that we also changed to
using the (recently moved to tigris) viewVC latest code (as none of the
previous releases seem to handle svn). My colleague claims he was using
viewVC when the lockup occurred; are there any other reports that could
bear on this?

I have trac on the machine, but it is only being tested and is not
connected to any of our active repositories (or visible to apache).

Failing anything more concrete, what kind of things cause these lockups
and can anything be done to ameliorate the problem?
