Which I would like to support and extend. [Trying to hold up the flag for my
original suggestion] I would want to see the option of defining rules /
mappings how subversion should consider files to be identical. This could be
different case, Unicode problems, version numbers in the file name (my
problem!) or anything else.
Anyone ever had problems with symbolic links in a unix file system with
subversion?

Someone was concerned about a one-to-one relation when suggesting mappings.
Well, the logic of the mapping would of course be the responsability of the
one that sets up the rules. Do wrong things there, you break it. That's how
software works most of the time.
I would still want to see an option for that - for those that a capable of
setting up a proper mapping.
