My plan is to use the Active Directory users through LDAP for working
with Subversion.

How exactly is it working and do I need to configure something like
svn-auth-file and passwd?

If you want to use LDAP and Apache, I would suggest trying either the
most recent v2.1.x betas, or the soon-to-be-released v2.2 of httpd. The
LDAP support is significantly more stable than what is present in v2.0.
