OK, the script worked this time, thank you!

However, I think I forgot to make it clear in my original question that
each directory I want to add is actually a directory tree with many
subdirectories. Will I need to run the script from each subdirectory of
each tree since the files are distributed throughout the tree? And, if so,
do I then make each subsequent tree a working copy so that Subversion will
recognize the new and updated files and directories?
