Moving Folders within a checked out repository

Hello,

If I move a folder within another folder, subversion stops working.
I'm using it through TortoiseSVN.
I spent last night re-checking out various projects into new folders
to get it working again. I'm using "Beyond Compare" to filter out the
svn folders so that I can delete the original folder and import the
same data from the new location. I don't recall any such problem with
the previous version of subversion I was using.
