So first something has to go wrong before it is fixed? I myself don't
have a real-world example for you (yet), but the whole thing just feels
like a disaster waiting to happen.

In my opinion it is very weird to protect one part of the repository
(delta's) and not the other (props). I see the repository as a whole and
would like integrity checking mechanisms on every part if possible.
