Re: Can users@svn consider using M2F or Gossamer threads?

Sorry it took so long to reply to this thread, I had to attend to some
internal housekeeping on my repos first.

For the most part, yes.

Essentially the emails-getting-copied-to-the-forum mechanism simply happens
by subscribing an forum-based email address to the users@svn list.

As for the forum-posts-getting-copied-to-the-email-list, it will certainly
depend on your ezmlm settings (presuming uses@svn is an ezmlm list): if you
bong non-subscribers, then one requires a special setting on the forum side
to always send as a certain email address...but I'm not sure, since all my
list-forum bridges that I run have my GNUMailman-based list posters be
"wide open" such that anyone can email the list distribution. I suspect
there are more elegant ways to handle this scenario; the rest of the
mail2forum.com community will know.

In general, however, I see this requiring zeo change to the existing
users@svn list other then to subscribe an additional address (which is
automated, anyway); that's exactly how I set up my bridges that I admin.

If you're still interested, we can start a discussion point on
mail2forum.com to address the scnerio above to see how it's exactly handled.

Yes, this would be helpful, but not required. Mail2forum.com can handle
this, as well. I find it easiest if said archives come in a unix-mbox flavor.

If you are still interested *and* we can address the scenario above, then
yes. I'd have to get in touch with the svnforum.org admin again--haven't
talked to him in a while. I'd like to see the forum bridge run in
non-production mode for a while to test to see if it's works as advertised
(can do this with no users@svn changes.) I'd also like to see a
mail2forum.1.2 rev cut before we go production-level live; not sure when
that will be (but I supsect it will be the next release).

Karl, I'll await your word.

I don't know about Gossamer other then as a user, but heavy speculation
here says that it will operate just as http://svn.haxx.se ...and also have
a much better topic-thread reading interface.
