I do not have exact numbers, but I know that http can be
e - x - t - r - e - m - e - l - y s - l - o - w
sometimes. See the thread
"svn list -R of medium-size repository takes 10 hours."
in this list.
Just today I got a call from one of my users who complained
how very slow "svn co" is compared to "gunzip < f | tar xf -".
So, if performance is very important to you, you may be
better off with the svn protocol.
