Doing it as "jim". I agree that it should not exit with an error.
As I said, switching the arguments of "diff" around causes it to
behave differently (= work properly).

I am doing this with a user that has access to all directories,
but only requires authentication for one of them. If the directory
requiring authentication does not come first, it gives the error.
