If you are using Active Directory for any reason, you are limited by
Microsoft's licensing agreement. So, if you're using either Apache or
the svn protocol for connections, and you're verifying users via their
Windows login, you need to make sure you have enough server licenses
for your connection.

However, if you are using the authentication built into either Apache
httpd or the "svn" protocol, you are not limited by Microsoft's
license agreement. If licensing is a concern for you, then use either
Apache httpd or the svn protocol and don't use Active Directory for
verifying your users.
