I agree that it would be best to use Apache or svnserve, but
unfortunately where I work the policy is that workstations are not be
used as servers. Thus far, the IT department is not interested in
hosting the repository on one of the Windows servers. Their attitude is
probably affected somewhat by the fact that only a few users will be
using the repository (4 of us so far).
My goal is to play by their rules and get Subversion working via file
sharing from the client systems to the Windows file server. Once I have
shown the value of the repository and it has seen some use, then they
should be more willing to host the repository on one of the servers. So
the eventual goal is to use Apache or svnserve, but I need to get it
working via file sharing until the time is right.
