   Just becaues you *can* use file:///, doesn't necessarily
   mean you should :) You asked if you could, I answered :)

   In a multi-user environment, the protection that funneling
   all access to the repository through a server process
   gives you, IMO, outweighs the slightly reduced complexity
   of repository setup.

   In other words, I'd setup a server. End users won't
   care, the only thing it changes for them is the URL.
   Setting up Apache with mod_dav_svn, even on Windows,
   is a pretty quick and painless operation.
