 ahh, with that in mind, try having your team actually *restore* VSS from
tape as a demonstration - if you are using the wrong backup client, or you
overlay your restore, or any other number of screwed up things, that alone
might scare them into it. just try analyzing your current vss db and run a
report on all the corruption - I bet there's a lot you don't even know
about.

we recently had to restore a VSS database...bleah.

with one time had terrible issues with that. They were constantly going
back to tape.
