a checksum problem exporting and checking out

Hi,

I have a svn server running as a service (svnserve running under svnservice) on a Windows 2003 Server box; the repositary is in a Berkeley DB.

It had been quite happy for a while, but today the service suddenly stopped mid-transaction. According to "svnadmin verify" everything was still fine in the repositary, and the service was restarted manually.

When I came to export a project, however, my clients (TortoiseSVN and command line SVN) both reported a checksum error in a file whose name is not a part of my project (sorry, didn't make a note of the name). The error occurs when exporting or checking out a specific file in the project, and is also present in older revisions of the file that used to be quite fine.

What's a good plan here? I can restore the repositary from a couple of days ago and remake the changes that have occurred - I guess that's safest. Quicker, though would be to try the "svnadmin recover" command here - is it sensible/safe in the circumstances (or is it impossible to be sure).

cheers

John Dubery
