svn update hangs...

Hi:
 
I was running the latest 1.0.6 version of subversion and I suddenly started
getting hangs when I did an svn update (or any command that required
accessing the repository, eg svn status does not have any problem). This
problem does not seem to go away even after upgrading to the latest version
(1.1.1) of the repository.
 
Anybody has ideas for solving this problem?
