Checkout indications

Date: 2004-10-20 07:01:35 CEST Hi, Does subversion provide a method which tells someone whether a particular file or folder has been checked out. Is there any file or indicator to know this right when you check out. I would be grateful if you could tell me how to configure Subversion so that I can know which of the files have already been checked out(and not committed) whenever I check out.
