Hi all -- I'm in a position to try and push my work to move from VSS to
Subversion. I'd like things to go as smoothly as possible. Given that
our IT department is only comfortable with Windows and Mac OS X and I'd
prefer to fight one battle at a time I'm trying to decide between those
two platforms. I took a look at the open issues and there are way more
on Windows than OS X:
Platform: P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 Total
All 3 23 169 28 26 249
HP 1 1
Macintosh 1 6 1 8
PC 1 2 43 8 3 57
Sun 1 1
Other 9 6 1 16
Total 4 26 228 43 31 332
Is it valid to read the open-issues numbers as an indication that
Subversion runs better on a Mac??
If relevant:
We've got about a dozen repositories, of which the big ones are about 2
GB in 20,000 files. It'll be under heavy use by about a dozen
developers, which will almost exclusively be connecting from Macs and
Windows boxes. Some are local, some are via VPN. We've got some binary
files and multi-forked files we'll need to deal with, but the prime
concern is speed and stability for source code access.
Cheers --
Lorrin
