svn+ssh checkout corrupts database?

From: Terrence Talbot <terrence_at_talbotlucas.org>

One of our repository users keeps getting a DB error upon 'svn update'
or 'svn status -u'. After some rebuilding and extensive testing, here's
what seems to be going on:

1) this user can run 'svnadmin verify' on the repository
2) this user can checkout a local copy (on the respository)
3) I can do these things as well.
4) as soon as he attempts to update or checkout a copy on his remote
machine via svn+ssh, the checkout fails with a DB error.
5) after he performs a remote operation, neither of us can then access
the repository without a DB error.

Again, if he performs any and all operations in his home directory on
the server where the repository is located, it works great. As soon as
he touches it from his own machine via svn+ssh, it corrupts the
repository for everybody.

His last checkin was Friday. Worked fine. Today this problem appears.
Nothing that we can find has changed. I've been through the book and
the FAQ multiple times and had been suspecting repository permissions
errors. I've checked and set those multiple times. I've restored from
backup. We work find with the backup. He touches it via svn+ssh and it
becomes corrupted.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
