My friend's redhat box,svn hook scripts can not run

Readhat 2.1 AS
compile SVN by manual,used ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/subversion

There are already db3 at system,no apr-util rpm

After svnadmin create /path/db
Set up the hoos/post-commit script,and chmod 777 it
Then run
svnserve -d -r /path/db

but i found it can't be run the hook script after i commit
What's wrong with it?

My box is FreeBSD,and SVN work very well.
But my friend can't,using redhat
